Iroquois Steeplechase LookBook Fashion Show and Marketplace: April 14, 2011

How classsssy does this look?! Save the date for Thursday, April 14, 2011, for the Inaugural Iroquois Steeplechase LookBook Fashion Show and Marketplace. The event will take place at the Bell Meade Plantation (love that place!) at the Carriage House and Stables. While seating is limited, there will be three runways with both VIP and General Admission. While the cost or specific fashion endeavors have yet to be released, this event does look like a great excuse to dress up and pretend you’re Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman.

StyleBlueprint Consignment Sale: February 24, 2011

This isn’t your average thrift sale! The ladies of StyleBlueprint will be hosting an elaborate consignment sale on February 24, 2011 from 9 AM – 6 PM. Although the event is free, a suggested donation of $5 will benefit the Renewal House. This not-to-miss shopping event will take place at the old Pastiche boutique located in Green Hills at 2203 Bandywood Drive. And put those credit cards away- cash or check only, ladies!

Fashion for a Passion: Charity Fashion Show & Silent Auction: Friday, March 25, 2011

Not to be confused with Fashion for a Fraction, the Owen Women’s Business Association and the Belmont Chapter of the National Association of Women MBAs are hosting Fashion for a Passion: Charity Fashion Show & Silent Auction on Friday, March 25, 2011. The event takes place from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Owen School (located on Vanderbilt’s campus between Grand Avenue and Scarritt Place at 401 21^st Ave. South); student tickets are $10 and general public tickets at $15.

The night will bring you “an evening of cocktails, conversations, and clothes,” in addition to a silent auction featuring Titans tickets, designer clothing, and restaurant gift certificates. Although the designers are currently nameless, the fashion show will highlight ways to “dress outside the box, inside the office.” All proceeds will be donated to the following charities: Magdalene House, All About Women, the Christian Women's Job Corps & Women Helping Women.

Get your holistic on next Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Mai from 4-6 pm with a pure barre class and lululemon “function” fashion show. Now, I have no clue what a “function” fashion show is, but I’m assuming if it’s sponsored by luluemon, we’re talking a display of hot workout wear and comfy yoga clothes. This wellness event  will feature delicious cocktails and yummy treats from Whole Foods Market, as well as a gift bag stuffed with treats from pure barre, Mai, Whole Foods Market, and Nashville Lifestyles.

Prom Fashion Show: February 19, 2011

How adorably punk rawwwwwk is this?! This Saturday, February 19, 2011, Rocketown is hosting a Prom Fashion Show at their main venue. Sponsors include Ambassador’s Formal Wear, Glitz, the White Room, Ace Photo Booths, and Journey’s. Featured music includes a performance by The Savvy and hair and make-up will be done by Eye Candy Salon. Doors open at 6 pm and the show starts at 7 pm. It’s just been announced that the darling and talented and five-time GRAMMY award winner Faith Hill will be this year’s featured artist at the 2011 spring Symphony Fashion Show featuring Marchesa. RAW Event: February 17, 2011 / Casting Call: January 30, 2011

On Thursday, February 17, 2011, RAW Nashville will be hosting its first showcase at the Mercy Lounge. The artistically-driven company already has noteworthy showcase participants: Lucy Pop Salon will be styling the event; Marwa Bashir and Ranae Morton will be responsible for hair and makeup looks; Darla The Outlaw will be the featured designer; The Black Shades will be the featured band; Rebecca Seung is the nights  photographer.

Preparation for Darla The Outlaw includes a model casting call for the show, which will take place this Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Lucy Pop Salon. The designer required models are 5’5” and up, sized 0-6, wear heels, and are available to walk in the RAW Nashville showcase.

BELCOURT THEATRE SEEKS NASHVILLE’S TOP EMERGING FASHION DESIGNER                

Application Process Begins; Winner Will Show Looks At nD Fashion Show 

NASHVILLE, TENN.—(Jan. 20, 2011)—The Belcourt Theatre announces a fashion design competition to find Nashville’s most promising designer as part of its second annual nD Festival, a fundraiser that celebrates independent film, fashion and music. Competitors will engage in an application process that includes producing a full look inspired by great American road movies. The winner of the nD Emerging Designer competition will show his or her runway looks alongside two visiting national designers at the nD Festival’s fashion show, slated for Fall 2011 at the Belcourt Theatre. Open to any Nashville-area designer over the age of 21, there is no fee to participate in the competition. The deadline to submit the first round of application materials is Monday, Feb. 28, 2011. Applications and guidelines will be available online at www.belcourt.org as of Friday, Jan. 28.

An expert panel of judges will select the winner, whom they believe has the talent to represent the future of independent fashion in Nashville. Competition judges include Laura Brown, special events and features director of Harper’s Bazaar magazine and featured judge on Bravo TV’s “The Fashion Show”; and Carrie and Matt Eddmenson, owners of the Nashville-based denim company Imogene + Willie and featured designers in the 2010 nD Festival fashion show.

To join fashion with film, a Nashville independent filmmaker will incorporate the nD Emerging Designer’s winning looks into a short film that will screen during the nD Festival fashion show. The winner will also receive a stipend and other prizes to go toward production of the featured collection and mentoring sessions with nationally known designers Carrie and Matt Eddmenson, and Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin.

The nD Festival will take place in late September 2011 (specific dates TBD). Co-chairs for the event are Holly Bryant and Libby Callaway. Approximately 1,000 people attended last year’s nD Festival, which raised more than $30,000 for new audience seating and improvements at the Belcourt Theatre.

On Monday, February 7, 2011, vintage retailer Goodbye Girls will be celebrating their 1 year anniversary with a party and trunk show from 8:00 to 11:00 pm at the Basement. A Fashion Affair: January 29, 2011

On January 29, 2011, A Vintage Affair will be hosting its fourth annual runway and wine event, raising funds for both women’s and children’s charities. Here is the information regarding the event pulled from A Vintage Affair’s website:

Fourth Annual Runway and Wine Event Raising Funds for Women’s and Children’s Charities

WHAT: A Vintage Affair hosts its fourth annual “A Fashion Affair” – with this year’s theme “Vintage Fashion of Legendary Stars.”  AFA is a runway and wine event raising funds for women’s and children’s charities in Williamson County.  Cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be provided by local restaurants and there will be a special musical performance.  The runway show, featuring DAN Agency models, will showcase vintage clothing worn by celebrities – Including June Carter Cash’s hat collection.
Radio and talk show diva Jane Ellen will host the event.

A Vintage Affair is an organization whose mission is to provide significant financial contributions to various nonprofit organizations in Williamson County whose services benefit the community at large.  All funds contributed to the nonprofit organizations are designated for programs to support the well-being of women and children of need.  To date, A Vintage Affair has contributed nearly a million dollars. 

The 2011 beneficiaries include: the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Williamson Medical Center, My Friend’s House, the Williamson County Library Foundation and the A Vintage Affair Fellowship at O’More College of Design.

I recently became aware of RAW when they friended me on Facebook, and I have to say, it looks like a pretty cool concept. As written on their Facebook profile, "RAW is an eclectic monthly showcase featuring independent, artistic talent: film, fashion, music and DJ, art, makeup, hair design & performing art". And on Saturday, January 15, 2011, RAW Nashville will be hosting their launch party and official meet & greet from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Mercy Lounge. After the repeated success we set out on a mission to do this outside of our state. We hired and trained the most skilled event producers we could find- and now we're launching in 22 cities nationwide in 2011----INCLUDING RIGHT HERE IN NASHVILLE!

On December 29th, our RAW Founders as well as our key videographeand documentary team are driving cross-country to all of the cities we're expanding to. Our videographer is filming the entire experience to complete a RAWcross America Documentary.

What can you Expect?
....WHAT IS A RAW SHOWCASE LIKE?
Each RAW showcase is different. A usual night will start off with a cocktail hour and perusing the gallery that stays lit all night. Then you'd watch short film screening, see a musical performance (band), then a performance art piece (dance troupe or comedian etc) then we go into the fashion show and the cherry on top is the DJ and after party. It is a circus of creativity, cocktails, expression and fun!
